Mum? Where do Buggies come from?
Pushchair? Pram? Stroller? Buggy? Whatever you push your child around in, choosing your first buggy can feel overwhelming. From different brands to different styles, there are seemingly infinite choices and it’s hard to know what’s going to be right for you. And even when your decision is made, what’s right for you right now might not be right in six months!

Without making you feel like another statistic, let me tell you my own story!
Hi, I’m Jackie, one of the Buggi co-founders. I work part-time as a GP in London and I live with my husband Alex, daughter Lila and dog Pablo. Preparing for Lila’s arrival was an exciting time, but it wasn’t easy on the bank balance.
Alex and I started our buggy search online, initially looking on eBay as it seemed wasteful and expensive to buy it brand-new when there were so many used buggies that had only been on the road for 6 months. After losing out on a few eBay bidding wars and with time running out, we decided we would bite the bullet and shell out for a buggy travel system with newborn carrycot. Thankfully, my parents contributed to the cost of this as their gift to us for Lila, which helped hugely.
I definitely felt I needed my sturdy Silver Cross Wayfarer when Lila was born. Lila made an early entrance into the world and was teeny-tiny (just over 2kg!), so I wouldn’t have felt comfortable with anything lighter or less protective and warm…but as soon as she moved up a weight category and we wanted to travel abroad, a more compact and easily foldable buggy was essential. We chose a Babyzen YOYO for our second buggy and have continued to use this ever since. I didn’t have any issues with the first buggy, but it just didn’t suit our needs anymore. So, the Silver Cross gathered dust in a cupboard, just in case we needed it again…but, let’s face it: we didn’t.
Other parents we knew had had similar experiences, but the penny didn’t drop until we were discussing this over lunch with some friends. They didn’t have kids yet, but having heard other friends say similar things, they pointed out there must be an alternative to the current options!....but there wasn’t!....and this is how we came up with the idea for Buggi. And, you guessed it: those friends are our awesome co-founders, Roshan and Sophie.
Through our subscription model, Buggi offers parents an affordable, flexible and sustainable alternative to traditional buggy ownership. It’s about finding what’s right for your and your little ones whilst recognising that people’s needs change.
Buggi is here for you: for every step of the way!
